All the facts in the Jet Turbine story are completely correct, although presented for comic effect.  Although the car was a flop, the engine itself was redesigned as a Stationary Power Supply and sold all around the World.  A typical British product, it only came out of production when it was realised it made no money for Austin.  Further details in "The Austin" by Barney Sharatt (recommended.)
